How do pallet dimensions determine rack size?

For standard 48-inch-deep pallets, 42-inch-deep uprights are the usual starting point. Common beam lengths are 96 inches for two 40-inch pallets, 108 inches, and 144 inches for three pallets. Measure the real load, including overhang; rack height follows usable clear height and your forklift lift height.

Can my current pushback rack be expanded?

Usually, if the connection matches and the existing frames have enough capacity. Teardrop is not universal across manufacturers. Send a photo of the upright face, beam connector and any label so we can match new components before you order.

How do you count storage positions before we buy?

The count depends on usable clear height, aisle width, pallet dimensions and your forklift's reach. Our free CAD layout gives the exact pallet position count for the proposed configuration before you buy. Cantilever layouts count supported load positions, and carton flow layouts count case-picking lanes instead.

How does lift truck choice affect aisle width?

A counterbalance truck generally needs about 12–13 feet, a reach truck about 8–10 feet, and very-narrow-aisle equipment about 5–6 feet. Confirm the working aisle with your truck specifications and actual load dimensions before ordering; aisle width has a major effect on how many rows fit.

Lane depth is a tradeoff. Deeper lanes hold more, but a half-empty six-deep lane wastes space. We look at your SKU counts before recommending depth.

Pushback is last-in, first-out, so it suits product without strict date rotation. Pallets should be in good shape, because broken bottom boards can hang up on the carts.

Your forklift does not need to enter the rack, which keeps impact damage down compared with drive-in.

Reach matters as much as depth. A reach truck in a 34-foot Doral building can place a pallet on a high lane that a counterbalanced truck simply cannot serve.
