How do you size carton flow rack capacity?

There is no single capacity for carton flow rack. Lane and shelf ratings follow case weight, support spacing and the flow bed; frames must also carry any reserve pallets above. We size the assembly to your heaviest cases and pallets and document capacities on load plaques.

Which rack system fits my inventory?

Selective teardrop rack is the starting point for mixed SKUs and direct access. Pushback stores two to six pallets deep, last-in, first-out by SKU; pallet flow suits FIFO or dated stock, drive-in suits bulk quantities of few SKUs, cantilever holds long loads, and carton flow serves case picking. We compare the fit against your inventory before drawing rows.

What upright depth and beam length should I order?

For standard 48-inch-deep pallets, 42-inch-deep uprights are the usual starting point. Common beam lengths are 96 inches for two 40-inch pallets, 108 inches, and 144 inches for three pallets. Measure the real load, including overhang; rack height follows usable clear height and your forklift lift height.

Will new carton flow rack match what I already have?

Often, if frame capacity, bay dimensions and beam connections suit the flow beds. Send photos of the upright face, beam connector and any label; teardrop connections are not universal across manufacturers. We check compatibility before adding new beds or bays.

Can a new layout give us more pallet positions?

The count depends on usable clear height, aisle width, pallet dimensions and your forklift's reach. Our free CAD layout gives the exact pallet position count for the proposed configuration before you buy. Cantilever layouts count supported load positions, and carton flow layouts count case-picking lanes instead.

Carton flow rack is a pick shelf with rollers. Cases load from the back and roll toward the picker, so the face of every lane stays full without restocking by hand.

In South Florida, e-commerce and 3PL last-mile buildings use it most, along with pharma and high-tech distributors moving small, valuable product by air.

Pick Lines for Last-Mile Fulfillment

South Florida's dense population keeps last-mile buildings busy in Doral, Miami Gardens, Coral Springs and Pembroke Pines. Pickers walk shorter paths when hundreds of SKUs fit along a carton flow face.

Restock happens from a back aisle, so replenishment never blocks the pickers.

Peak seasons hit hard here, with holiday orders landing right after hurricane season ends. Lanes sized for peak volume keep pickers from running out mid-shift.

Sizing Lanes to Your Cartons

We need case dimensions, weights and how many cases of each SKU you pick per day. Lane width and roller pitch come from that data.

Heavy cases need tighter roller spacing; small cases may need dividers. Ergonomics matter too, so the fastest movers sit at waist height.

Carton flow can mount inside existing pallet rack frames, which saves floor space and uses steel you already own.

Pharma and High-Tech Distribution

Goods moving by air through MIA often ship as cases and eaches. Carton flow keeps lot rotation automatic, which helps with date or serial tracking.

Distributors near Boca Raton and the Airport West area pair carton flow with a pallet rack overhead for reserve stock.

Serialized electronics and temperature-sensitive pharma often need separate zones. We lay out the pick module so restricted product sits in its own controlled section.
